Is there a way to default to 16 bit color depth (i.e. Image -> Mode -> 16 bit)? When I open my raw images Photoshop always defaults to 8 bits.

Thanks.

Walter,

In the Raw converter window, at the bottom, you can change the properties of the converted image.

On my system the new settings are "sticky" on a per camera basis.

Once you set is for every camera you use, you should be fine.
