Personally, this really upsets me. I used the CS3 beta and was NOT impressed. The issues I had with it were not addressed in the final relase and I really see no reaso to upgrade to software that is not necessary for my uses.

I prefer to stick with CS2 and will continue to use it in any case. But in order to use PS with the new Canon 1D you have to upgrade to CS3. So, I have to pay $200 just for a converter to change my raw files to dng.

I just needed to vent that.

Yah, it isn’t fair, but lots of things in life aren’t and Adobe does need as many reasons as they can get to get people to upgrade. RAW support for the latest cameras is one of them Especially for people that buy a new camera more than one a decade.

You should be able to use the latest DNG converter to convert the 1D files to DNG and then open those in CS2 with the last version of ACR. That is an extra step but should get you around the issue.

Not true. The 4.1 DNG converter is free. Just download the ACR/DNG converter version that supports the 1D mk3, and use the dng converter.

That gives you files that CS and CS2 can read!

"I just needed to vent that."

And in so "venting" you’ve shown your ignorance of the situation…as previously pointed out, you CAN stick with CS2 (or even CS) if you take your 1DMII proprietary raws and convert to DNG. Even Camera Raw 2.4 running in CS can then open the images…

You only have to upgrade to CS3 is you want to use Camera Raw 4.x, which is considerably enhanced over Camera Raw 3.x or 2.x.

You further expose your ignorance by posting here in the Photoshop forum instead of the Camera Raw forum…
