batch conversion of different file types (bmp & jpeg) using save&close command

Hello. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have a task of printing hundreds (possibly thousands) of images in various folders. The problem – the pixel aspect ratios on *some* of the images are not square, but instead some odd, custom ratio which prevents them from printing properly. However, the real problem I’m running into is that some of the files are jpegs, and some are 32-bit bmp. So far, no matter how I set up my action (whether or not I include a "save" or "save as" in the action, regardless of whether that step is checked or not), and whether or not I pick the "save and close" option in the destination entry in the batch settings, and whether or not I check the "Override Action "Save As" Commands" box, no matter what I do, I can get the bmp files to save & close fine, but I keep getting prompted for the jpeg files to choose compression settings.

So my question is: How can I create an action & batch settings so that all jpeg and bmp images just have the pixel aspect ratio set to square, and are then saved and closed as their original file name and type (overwriting the original files)?

Please help. I’ve spent hours on this so far, and I have a deadline to get these all printed out by the end of the week.

Thank you!
Mike
