Anyone have any idea why Photoshop CS2 help will work for the XP administrator, but not for any of the user logons?

I’m having the exact same problem with Photoshop CS (8.0). The help menu (although I see the "help" folder) will not come up. Any solutions?

Photoshop CS (8.) Not Working.

When I click on the Help Menu nothing happens. However, I can find the help folder in the Adobe Photoshop file. Suggestions?

My apologies for a wrong description of my problem. That is, it doesn’t work for the admin logon either.

Rather, the Adobe Help Center opens properly, but there is apparently no help file for either Photoshop or Bridge.

I found the PS CS2 Help file here:
< http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088>

…. but as of yet, I haven’t been able to install it properly (as per the instructions on the webpage …

…. nor have I been able to find a similar Help file for Bridge.

Is is possible to find the appropriate files at another installation, and simply put them in the same directory on this computer??

Although I’ve seen what appears to be the answer to the "help menu not displaying" issue for Photoshop CS2, I don’t know if the same "solution" will help me resolve the similar problem with Photoshop CS 8.0? As of yet, I haven’t received a suggestion.

I found a "work-around" to access the help files. The issue has something to do with Windows XP, Service Pack 2. The solution (?) is to copy the Help Folder from the Installation CD to your desktop and use Adobe Acrobat Reader (instead of within the Photoshop Application) to open the Help Files. It works ….but not very convenient.

Don’t know if it will HELP πŸ˜‰

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First of all make sure you have the latest version of the Help Centre:
< http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1 07&platform=Windows>
The updated Help package for Photoshop is available from:
< http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3088>
If you still have problems:
There are two techdocs concerning Help Centre Problems:
332006 Error "Model subsystem error: 1016" when you start Help Center from any CS2 application
<http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332006.html>
331717 Help window doesn’t appear when you start Adobe Help Center (Windows XP, 2000)
<http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331717.html>
Also, it may be worth trying the following:
Assuming ahc.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center, delete the following folders
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Cache C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Database C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Preferences C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help Center\AdobeHelpData\Search
The only folder under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help
Center\AdobeHelpData you should have left is one called packages. Run ahc.exe
What should happen is that your help center database should get rebuilt (you will see progress messages as it process each help package) and everything should work.
Sorry … I should have expected to find something in the FAQ πŸ™‚
I was finally able to remedy my problem as soon as I realized that the version of AHC installed was left over after PS CS (i.e., v1.0). I uninstalled it and installed v2.1 (available via FAQ#11), and all is good!
