Hi

I am unable to paste bitmap images directly from the new version of Word 2007 into Photoshop CS2 (running on Vista Ultimate).

If I select the image in Word then copy it, I can paste into other applications (ie CorelDraw) no problem (& in those apps I can then select, copy again and paste OK into PS). But if I go directly to Photoshop after copying in Word 2007, I can’t paste into an existing document, nor create a new document based on the dimensions of what’s on the clipboard – any new doc is created at whatever the previous doc’s dimensions were, and nothing will paste into it. It’s as though Photoshop simply can’t read clipboard items coming from Word.

Didn’t have these problems pasting from Word 2003 on my old XP machine.

Anyone else had this problem?

I think so.

You’re selecting the image with the cursor — in other words it’s (the image) highlighted when you use Command-C. That’s not copying the image that PS needs.

Do this:

1. Select the image in Word so that you see the handles — not so it’s blue (or whatever color you use for highlighted Word elements) but so that you see the black handles.

2. Copy it.

3. Start a New Photoshop document. Just click OK when the New dialog appears; Photoshop assumes you want the new image to be exactly the same size as the one you just copied out of Word.

4. Paste it.

5. Copy it from there and put it into the image you’re working on, or drag the layer from that image (it’ll be named layer 0 because it has no Background; it being a copied image).

If this doesn’t work, I’ll have to know more about what’s wrong.

Gary (hope this helps, fellow adobeite 🙂 )
