I have 30x EPS files to rasterise, then save as Tiffs, and then add colour to. They all need the same basic layer set/layer structure. How can i get that same structure into them all easily?

Your still not clearly explaining what you are trying to accomplish.

Is there a reason my suggestion wouldn’t work?

Not really sure how to explain it any better.

I just want to get the layer structure into another file.

I suppose i could make an empty file that is 10px x 10px at 72dpi, with the correct structure in it. Then just drag and drop into the rasterised EPS. But to do that to 30 EPS files, and not all in one work session, seems a longhand way of doing something very simple.

But I was thinking there might be a way to load layers from another file (dreaming), or a way to duplicate a folder structure from one file to another without dragging and dropping (probably dreaming). And then hoping there would be a way to record that as an action so I can just press F5 and get it to happen every time I need it.

Have you tried what I suggested?

CN, i’ve not tried that. But of course it will work.

But it means i have to have the Tiff Canvas size the same as the EPS, else i won’t see all my EPS. The EPS Canvas sizes are variable, so that’s going to be difficult to set a size to allow for them all.

Secondly, dragging and dropping is quick, but not as quick as pressing F1 that runs an action to do it for me. Your solution also means i always have to have the structure Tiff open.

Maybe it’s just a step too far and i can’t automate this instruction??

Sometimes, you know, it is quicker to just knuckle down and do it (30 ain’t that many) than it is to try and figure out a way to automate.

If the layers are all in a set you can use Duplicate Layer Set choosing your eps as the Destination. There may be away to automate that. Are the layers to be transported teh same in every case? There might be away to automate using that.

Or, as CN suggested, move the eps into the layered file. That would be easier to automate, again, assuming the layered file will be the same across the board.

Ed, yes layers are the same. i’m not sure how to automate either of your options. ??

You would make an action consisting of Duplicate Layer and choosing the "layered" file as the Destination, and Save As…In the Automate dialog make sure the files are saved with a sequence of numbers. Then put all the "eps" files (flattened) in a folder and use Automate>Batch on that folder.

I think that will work. May need to play with it to get the settings right.
