Consider yourself fortunate that it has not been installed.

PS CS3 is still in beta although they don’t say as such. The problem it has are:

1) When you insall it on top of CS2, you will get a message that "Product Licnse has Expired". (Apparently this is also the case when you install it on beta version!

2) On some systems, it doesn’t install at all if the OS is Vista!

3) On XP systems, it tries to install 64 bit drivers when none is applicable!

4) To uninstall it, you will need good 2 hours even on the fastest machine on this planet!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! Take a snapshot of your drive with GHOST or Acronis True Image before installng the trial version.

Hope this helps.

Dave

That lot might be true for you, but it is not true for everybody.

Maybe you have a customised or otherwise screwed up system.

My problem is No 2, as indicated in Dave’s post above. I can’t get it to get past the inital stage of the install. Nothing gets going at all.
When I double-click on the setup.exe file, I get the installer box for a split second and then I’m back to windows explorer.
So although the people who have posted in this thread are having problems installing CS3, they are very different from what I am experiencing.
It does seem to me at the moment, that any version of Photoshop and Vista, just don’t mix!! (and I do take heed of Dave’s general opinion about being fortunate that I have not been able to install the trial).

What amazes me is that a huge company like Adobe has not been able to bring Photoshop up to date and made it Vista compatible, since Vista has been around since February in the UK.
Surely this is one of their flagship programs with 1000’s of user’s and there is no official mention of this problem on their web-site nor info about their intention with regard to Vista.
Why do they let you download a trial version that cannot be installed, because you use Vista? Tell us not to download under these circumstances and save people a lot of grief!!

(If they have released news about this, then I stand corrected, as I am not really very familiar with their products).

Disgruntled!!

Depends on whether you include the pirated copies.

I too cannot install the trial CS3 why would I puschase CS# if The trail won’t install. I contacted Adobe (Pacific) the only solution was to turn off my firewall and any anti virus software YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. I’m currently exploreing other brands of software

Turning off virus software is pretty much standard practice when installing software.

I hate to tell you bob, but in my 3+ decades of computing, i’ve never had to turn off antivirus to install software. including antivirus software.

Downloaded both lightroom and CS3. Former works fine apart from photos being too dark but CS3 keeps crashing. Re loaded and now cant use the trial says it has expired? What a load of rubbish. Is there a quick way of uninstalling it as it is driving me mad as it seems to be taking an age (hours).?

I haven’t either, but let’s face it, that’s the general advice. To complain because you got that as advice just isn’t reasonable, IMO.

From what I’ve experienced myself, and read in posts and reviews, it’s the so-called security suites that cause the problems, not a straight AV program, properly configured.

Having said that, disabling the thing may help but un-installing seems a bit extreme!

Uninstalling wasn’t the advice given…just disabling during the installation process.
