I am using Photoshop Elemts 5.1 and RAW 4.1. Shooting with a Nikon D40. When I open a RAW file for editing, I can only see the ‘Preview’ checkbox. I have been told (by a book) that there is a ‘highlights’ and a ‘shadows’ checkbox that should be with the ‘preview’ button.

I cant find them? Are they there in this version? Do I have to do something else to make them available?

Im using Windows XP, with plenty of memory and a processor that will support these types of operations.

In the histogram to the right, there are two up pointing arrows. One is a shadow clipping preview and the other is a hightlight clipping preview. You will not notice any difference in the picture unless there is some clipping in which case they will turn color in the preview.

Thank you. that makes a world of difference. There isnt a check box, there are just the two marks in the histogram. I think i got it figured out. I guess I just had to read a little further. To show the highlight clipping, i have to just press the ‘U’ botton on my meyboard, to show the shadow clipping I have to press the ‘O’ on my keyboard.

Thanks again for the quick response. Saved me a bunch of time and work!!!
