Ideal Laptops for CS3

Can anybody recommend an ideal laptop for use with CS3. I am due to change my laptop but it cannot be MAC (my choice) because all my existing software is windows based. I am thinking of the colour rendering more than speed and hard drive size as it will probably be dedicated to my photography. I will probably go for 100Gb and 1.6Mhz as a minimum. Any ideas please?

I like Dell laptops for speed and quality of screen. Though, I prefer heavy duty work on a Dell desktop.

I have a 17" hp pavillion which I do PS, After Effects, PremierePro, etc..(CS3 suite) on a regular basis. It works great! I will soon be adding a bigger HD and another Gig of Ram but I use it daily. Of course it isn’t as nice as my new quad desktop but it gets the job done. Good luck!

I’ve been very pleased with my aging Dell Inspiron 9300, with a 2.3GHz Pentium M processor & 2GB of memory, plus a 7200rpm 100GB drive. The screen is wonderful and while not perfectly calibrated is nonetheless good enough to do some editing work on.

I suggest you opt for the fastest hard drive you can get since a laptop with dual internal hard drives is more difficult to find, plus would be even more battery hungry. An external drive as a scratch disk will only hinder performance since USB2/Firewire still lags internal ATA or SATA interfaces, but an external is nice for data storage.

Do a bit of digging on the screens, as many Mac book Pro users have found out a lot of laptops use 6bit displays not 8 bit. So as colour is important take the time.
