Sorry if this has been answered before but my search capability on Adobe’s site is not working.

I’m thinking of switching to Vista and was wondering if there are any issues with loading CS2 suite and having it work properly?

Thanks,

Dean

The result will be anywhere from complete success to complete failure. Sorry, but until you actually try it there’s simply know way to know if you’ll have problems.

FWIW, I’m a painfully early adopter of technology but for now I’m sticking with XP.

I did not experience any problems with CS2 on Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

Adobe’s official position is that CS2 is "not recommended" on Vista: http://www.adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/adobe_products_an d_windows_vista.pdf

In other words, IF you hit any snags, you’ll have to search the Adobe Knowledgebase and these forums for answers.

As Bob says: end user experience has ranged from complete failure to complete success.

Vista is, without a doubt, the most beautiful operating system I have ever seen. I miss clunky old XP, though, for its stability. Vista asks you endless questions about procedures you’ve started; it whites out the whole screen while it decides what to do with something not responding, it likes to send you to the MS Update Center when it doesn’t have any answers and we all know how useful that is. It delivers up strange messages never before seen in XP i.e. "AIOC has stopped working and the program must now close." I think this is a printer message but all I had open was email and the printer turned off. Something as simple as "Appearance" where you can do your wallpaper has been dumped into something called "Personalization" and that’s a coupla menus down. See what I mean? In some ways, it’s just pointlessly goofy. Also, we have endless arguments over just who’s the adminstrator here.

And, while I’ve not had much problem with CS2 – none, in fact – the rest of the craziness that comes along with Vista doesn’t make it worth your while – at least not until the upgrade comes out…oh, what the heck, maybe not even then, I dunno.

There are plenty of choices for new machines that have XP. That said, the first thing to do with any Windows machine is to blow it out and perform a clean install of the operating system.

Hmmm,

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I was a little missleading. I’m not switching to Vista via "upgrade". I am purchasing a new laptop and have no choice but Vista. Maybe I’ll track down my XP disc and reload it when I get it.

I’d check to see if you can get xp pro instead!

Dean–

I purchased a new machine with Vista on it. There wasn’t any choice. My tech guy tried installing XP as the operating system and the darned thing wouldn’t let him – how it refused a clean install is beyond me. That being said, Gladdis here thinks she’s running both Os’s. I have no idea how he did that but it seems to work.
