I’ve been trying to find a way to remove patterns from images of furniture pieces. I have PS CS2. Our furniture company partners, send us pictures of their furniture and we render them in Scene7 so that they can be viewed with our upholstery fabrics on their furniture pieces. I don’t have problems when they send us pictures that have solid fabrics on them, but we run into trouble when their pictures do have patterned fabrics upholstered on them. Does anyone know of a method of removing or replacing the pattern and still keeping the shadows and 2 dimensional effect of the image? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In Adobe CS (PS 8.0) I use Filter/Stylize/Find Edges and play around with brightness, etc. to get my 2D outline.

Tom, I tried that and it really doesn’t give me the results I’m looking for.

How about selecting the fabric and then using one of the blur tools?

John, Good tip… I tried the Gaussian blur and it gives me a fair enough result, especially after I add a bit of noise back into the layer so that it doesn’t look so blured out, thanks.
