I would like the new features but am wary because of all the problems that seem to happen and are still happening after CS3 has been out for some time.

CS is working well. Are most upgrades going well or are the problems common? I can wait until CS4 before I have to upgrade to get the upgrade price…
But then what if CS4 is buggy…?

Opinions please?

Also,

Any complex program is going to have bugs in any new release. However, by hanging around these forums, you’re exposed only to the people who have problems, not the majority who don’t.

That said, if you’re going to be doing production work and/or work that generates your income, you don’t get any points off for going slow. Wait until you need a new feature, or until the first bug-fix patch. And even then, don’t upgrade all your systems and don’t trash the old installations.

I would definitely upgrade if you shoot raw. the latest acr is wonderful and it has helped speed up my photo work a good deal. i am still learning a lot of the new features, but at this point, i cant believe i waited so long to move up from cs myself. their are a boatload of other things that cs did not have, so i say go for it.

CS2 was so much better than CS I can’t imagine why anyone would miss that upgrade.

Not a professional, Buko. Cost factor. But I would like to upgrade now. Guess I’ll wait a bit longer and when I do upgrade make sure I have at least a couple of system backups.

Thanks for the responses!

As far as I can see, the only real problem with CS3 can be with its new printing protocol – there are numerous threads here discussing that. If you leave CS installed for printing in case you have a problem with CS3, then there is no reason not to upgrade. In all other respects, and with ACR and Bridge in particular, CS3 is streets ahead of CS and CS2.

If you can get CS3 printing to work to your satisfaction, then so much the better.
