I realize this isn’t a Monaco forum but I find a dead end everywhere I look for my answered. Hopefully this won’t be another one.

I’ve got an Optix XR "puck" that I would like to use on my Vista 64-bit system. Does anyone know of a driver for this Optix XR puck?

This is the only thing I’ve seen:

< http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=730&Action =support&SupportID=4021>

I won’t be running Vista until/unless I build a new system, so the situation isn’t critical for me, but I’m watching it because I like the DTP94 (don’t want to buy a new puck)…

Edit: Oops, I missed the 64-Bit Vista. Apparently this workaround is only for 32-Bit Vista

Yes, I’ve looked at that link. I also called tech support and they said they are currently working on a "real" driver for Vista 32-bit (instead of just having a work-around). He said they will provide a 64-bit driver after they have caught up on all of there 32-bit Vista projects. I’m not holding my break on that one. Especially since it is a discontinued product.

I’m still hoping there might be someone who has been savvy enough to come up with a 64-bit hack that works.

I don’t know how you got that information, I have downloaded the Vista64 driver and it works. Let me look-see where I got it exactly.

Steve: When you install EZcolour there is a sub-directory that has the 64bit usb driver (XrUsb64.sys) for the puck.

Haven’t installed Vista64 yet, but the files were installed under Vista32.

Mmmmmmmmm. Nice

I was trying to use the DTP94 (optix xr) puck with the Monaco Optix Pro 2.0 software. I do have an old version of EzColor but it too old and does not have a 64-bit driver for the puck. I downloaded my the latest version of EzColor 2.6.5 but for some reason I get an error upon install. If I had the driver for the puck I see no reason why it wouldn’t work with Monaco Optix Pro. Monaco Optix Pro installed fine onto Vista 64-bit and the program works but it can not recognize the puck until I have the driver for it.

Any chance I could get you to e-mail that driver?

I sure would appreciate it.

I will try to send it to you in a day or two. Don’t know if it will work, but it would be worth an attempt.

One of my favourite apps took down Vista. Finally got it up and running (Vista, not the app), got a lot of work to catch up on first.

Steve:

Tried to send them but the email was returned, because your account does not allow attachements. Said the 37K attachment was too large.

Thanks for trying. 37K or 37MB? The max attachment size for that account is 20MB. Also, certain file extension like .exe are not allowed unless it is zipped. If you can zip it and it is less than 20MB it should go through. Sorry for the trouble but I sure do appreciate it.

Will you please send me an e-mail directly to my account so I can send you my work e-mail address? I would rather not post my work e-mail in the forum.

Thanks again…

Please send me any e-mail (without an attachment) so I can respond back and give you my work e-mail.

Did you try zipping it? What size is it 37kb or 37mb? 37kb is almost nothing in size. Again, certain file extensions like .dll .inf .exe are not allowed unless they are zipped.

Thanks

Done!

The 2.65 version of Monaco EZcolour automatically installs both versions.

Well I installed Monaco EZcolor under Vista64 and it works like a charm.

Once you install, then reboot with the puck plugged in, you will be asked if you want to search for a driver and Windows picks up the 64-bit driver.

I’m glad it worked out for you. I still get an error message when I try to install EZcolor. I would really appreciate it if you could zip that driver and e-mail it to me.

Steve, I emailed it to the alternate address you gave me last week. But that is strange because it is part of the new 2.65 version.

Download <http://www.bartcross.ca/FTP/64BitUSBDrivers.zip> the drivers from here.

Hey thanks I appreciate it. However, I’m going to seem like a pest. The two files I downloaded are XrUsb64.sys and SeqCal.sys. I know for 32-bit the two files are called XrUsb.sys and XrUsb.inf. So I would imagine the two files I need would be an inf file and a sys file for 64-bit.

I tried the two files you provided. It didn’t work. I think there should be an inf file. Probably called XrUsb64.inf

I appreciate your efforts.

Steve,

I’ve got EZcolor as well, running it under Vista but not Vista64. Taking a look at the installation package and extracting a CAB file, there was a folder in that called XRITEDRIVERS. That folder contained the XrUsb files you’ve mentioned here, and I see that the INF file is a unified file applicable to both 32- and 64-bit platforms. Looking at my EZColor installation, I saw the root folder had SEQCAL.SYS as well as other SYS and INF files, which I copied "just in case" into the XRITEDRIVERS folder, zipping it and uploading it to my website where you can grab it as <http://ambress.com/xritedrivers.zip> for the next day or two.

Hope that helps,

Daryl

Fantastic!! Thanks Daryl… That worked!!!

After Vista 64-bit recognized the DTP94, I was able to use Monaco Optix Pro software to make a profile. Very nice. Thanks!

Now if I can figure out a way to keep monacogamma loaded. It loads momentarily at boot-up then it gets kicked out. The good thing is photoshop likes the new monitor profile. Upon starting PS CS3, I was getting an error about a faulty monitor profile before.

Hi Steve,

Glad that got you working. I don’t know why Monaco Gamma wouldn’t remain loaded unless it is some sort of conflict with Vista’s color management. But, I never use Monaco Gamma anyway since it doesn’t support 2 monitors. Instead, for XP I use the Windows Color control panel applet and, for Vista, the evolution of that which is the Color Management dialog. I just associate my two EZColor-created profiles (one LCD, one CRT) with the appropriate monitor and Vista loads them up.

Regards,

Daryl

Thanks again. I just deleted Monaco gamma from the start-up folder.

I am doing this on a laptop. I will be using a 2nd/external monitor from time to time so thanks for the tips.

I’m glad I (we) got it working. I’m a little annoyed that X-rite doesn’t offer the 64-bit driver for the DTP-94. I guess the discontinuation of the DTP94 has something to do with the GretagMacbeth and X-Rite merger. X-Rite now wants everyone to buy the Eye-One Display 2 package even though the DTP-94 puck is just as good if not better.

Daryl:

Thank you for getting that right. Hmmmmm, my operation still has my brain ‘ditz-ified’.

Got Vista 32/64 installed last week and I’ve got most of the kinks worked out.

I removed the Monaco gamma loader from start-up in Vista, I couldn’t figure out why the gamma did not appear to change. Well duh, Vista had already done that. Good tip, knew MS had better colour management but didn’t know it worked this way for monitors. Seems MS did something for graphics pros, but only because of the ubiquitous need for colour management in the consumer market.

ID.Awe,

Yes indeed, it is nice to see MS finally incorporated proper gamma loading into the O/S, seemingly with capability to support multiple monitors although I’ve only got 2.
