I have been search all over the internet and wondering and asking many questions but many people don’t know the answer. Then I was like maybe I should come to these forums.

Anyways, I was wondering does anyone know how to do a powder affect. Like look in the following pictures to see what I mean. I don’t know how they get that fade.

One way is to add a Solid Color adjustment layer, reduce the opacity and add a gradient to the layer mask.

I tried that but it doesn’t give it that powder look. Do you know any other ways that it could possibly be done?

There are plenty of other ways – i always give the quickest and simplest first. 😉

I can’t really go any further until I know what you mean by "that powder look".

I see nothing close to powder in the airplane that is hosted on flicker… You could try adding noise to the gradient (the only thing I could think of to make it look like powder.
