After I updated my Photoshop CS2 on PC, the submenu in the tool palette seem to pop up automatically, such as marquee selection, fill/gradient, etc. It’s getting very annoying. I don’t know how to turn it off. Once I select the tool, I don’t want to have to click on it every time I change a tool.

Thank you

Check the mouse settings.
BTW, what mouse are you using? driver? wacom tablet?

I’m using a regular pc mouse, and it was not doing it before I update the Photoshop. 2 other of my co-workers are experience the same issue, 1 did not becuase he didn’t update his CS2. Allow me to repeat the problem, ie, marquee tool, I choose rectangular marquee. Then I move to other tools like paint brush. when I going back to marquee tool, instead of just select the marquee, the submenu pops up every time, force me to have to click on the rectangular marquee again every time I select it. This happens to all the tools that contains sub menu. we are smashing our heads against the wall on this one. Also I tried it since you mentioned it, right click, left click, mouse setting, still doing the same thing.

The correct behaviour is that the submenu stays out as long as the mouse is down, so it sounds like a mouse setting in the Control Panel.

amazing, last night I played around with mouse setting and didn’t change a thing, but this time it solves the problem. I feel so stupid now. Anyway, thank you very much for the help! Problem Solved!
