My text is apparently scaled too large or something – size 6 font looks like size 72 font, and size 72 font is so large it can’t even appear within the image. I can’t figure it out – I’ve tried looking for a way to reset to default settings, but the only "way" I found didn’t seem to work, and I’ve tried messing with the resolution because for some reason it was set to 9999.9 pixels/inch. The resolution’s been fixed now, but the text is still confusingly large.

What is the type size set to now? What is the resolution now?

You didn’t rasterize the type did you?

Well, here’s an example of what’s going on. I didn’t rasterize anything, but anyways:

Bad comparison, Dave. You’re using a different font.Check this out:

I placed the JPG in Illustrator and then typed it myself using the same specs with courier.

Yes, but the thing is it’s like that with ALL my fonts, not just Courier.

They’re exactly the same as Marie’s. That JPG was a direct download of her file.

yea, they’re both the same size, and the same size as mine. they’re nothing close to marie’s…

marie, is it jsut one document or is it like that for new docs as well?

i’d reset the type tool. if that fails reset the preferences (details are in thefaq).

It’s like it for all documents.

I’ll try resetting the type tool again. Last time I tried it didn’t work, but I might’ve been doing it wrong.

Okay, resetting the preferences did it.

oh i misunderstood you. i thought you did both in the pdf. reading too quickly. still the two examples in your pdf are the same size as my text, not the same size as her original jpg example. maybe i inhaled too many paint and wallpaper stripper fumes this weekend. 🙂

anyway, glad it’s working marie.

Let me explain this step by step.

1. I downloaded her JPG file.

2. I created a new Illustrator file.

3. I placed her JPG in the Illustrator file.

4. I created a new text frame.

5. I created the text using courier 6 , 12 and 30 point text.

6. The text I create was identical to the JPG the Marie uploaded.

7. I saved as PDF and uploaded to my site.

Again…I still see no problem at all with her text. What am missing?

Try it yourself…at your leisure of course. Download Marie’s file and place it Illy or InDesign. Create a new text frame and create the text using courier.

I don’t have indesign and don’t have illy loaded. but i did try it myself (in psp 3) as you can see from both my images. as she reports there was something wrong with her system until she reset her pref, i can only conclude your system is hosed bob. i charge 90 bux an hour, if you want, i can fix that for you… XD
