I am using Photoshop CS2 at work, working on color renderings. alot of the buildings we design/build have stone features. we save our AutoCAD drawings into PDF to bring into Photoshop to color. in AutoCAD the stone is shown for representation, we use a basic hatch pattern to show it, when we bring into Photoshop, is there a way to bring in an actual picture of stone veneer and incorporate into our image, or would we be better off just dropping color into each individual stone and gaps between stones.

Thanks.

Please make your thread titles less generic in the future. The regulars here will often ignore requests for help like that which are non-specific.

A clear thread title will attract respondants who are familiar with the problem you’re facing.

I’d help you if I could, but I don’t know much about AutoCAD. But I DO know about cluing in new visitors on "How To Get Help Quickly." <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?50@@.2cd06cd9>

You can do what you describe, but it would not automatically apply to the correct places.

One way it could be done would be to incorpaorate the stone texture into a Layer Style. Another would be to just Paste it in as a layer and mask out the correct areas.

Can you make the stone areas a specific color in AutoCAD instead of crosshatch? That would make it easier to select areas and therefore mask or apply in Photoshop.

I also don’t know AutoCAD, but isn’t it a vector program? I am wondering if you would be better off doing what you want in Illustrator instead of Photoshop.
