What am I doing when it happens? Well nothing apart from watching the screen and praying! Seriously, all other programs are closed.

Hi Dave,

CS2 starts but then the error window pops up!

Does it get completely past the splash screen or does the error come during one of those activities you see echoed on the splash?

I have the same drama as above.
Photoshop starts with the screen with all the credits then that finishes and the program looks fine for a couple of seconds and this little widow with the error pops up.
ps whats the splash

The splash screen is the window that appears on-screen while Photoshop is initializing. If you watch closely at the top of the window, you will see that it reports what activities are being peformed…loading fonts, loading plug-ins, etc. With a bit of luck, you might notice what was last reported before PS shut down, and that could clue you in what direction to search for a solution.

Steve, does initialization get past the splash screen, or does it crash while the splash screen is still up? If still up, watch for the data I mentioned and see if you can tell at what point the crash occurs.

James, in your case, it sounds like the splash screen has come and gone, so I’m not sure what to suggest.

Mine does the same, *especially* when Acrobat opens to read a .pdf file froma web page or one created from within another application. It usually happens as well when opening Acrobat 7.0 itself, though; Adobe Reader 8 does not do this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 7.0, and it changed nothing.
