I’m running Photshop 6 in Windows XP. My color profiles are in C:\ windows\system32\spool\drivers\color. When I try to organize and rename the profiles (using Windows Explorer) Photoshop doesn’t recognize the new names even after shutting down Photoshop (or the computer). What’s going on??

Windows maintains some cached information about the profiles in the registry.

Robert,
You might try "right clicking" on one of your renamed profiles. If "install" is an option, perhaps clicking "install" will make the appropriate registry entries. Don’t know if it’ll work, but you might get lucky ! <G>

Chris & Brent,

Thanks for the responses. Tried right click and there is an install option. Installed, shut down PS, restarted computer but PS still can’t find new profile. I had also uninstalled an old profile but PS still listed it. So PS is only accepting Profiles entered in some other way. But, What’s the Way? A mystery!

I think Chris suggested to check the registry.

I was working on something else and came across the AdobePref.LST which contains profile information.

You *might* try closing photoshop, rename that file to .OLD and start photoshop again. It should rebuild the file. If not, change it back.

Peace,
Tony

Tried all suggestions and no results so I deleted all of the unsued profiles from the color directory, uninstalled Photoshop 6, and reinstalled. The color directory was updated, adding all the profiles I had deleted (indicating I’m working in the correct directory) but the profile list in Photoshp still doesn’t list renamed profiles and still lists old names that have been deleted?
