That attitude is not conducive to getting help!
Have you reset your preferences?
No, I haven’t reset my preferences. However, I have closed the program and reopened it and it has *occasionally* worked.
This version, although supposedly enhanced for speed, etc….seems to me to be slower than the last several versions….
I have a Dell Precision Workstation 2.8 Core2 Duo processor with 4 gb’s of ram…..??
I’m just curious…(not being a wiseguy here) but why does Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop have fairly consistant requirements of trashing the preferences file and starting over? I never had such an issue with CorelDraw and Photopaint.

This is a fail safe for people who have unorthodox systems that do things the program is not expecting. It basically resets the settings to a starting point that enables it to continue.
I have never had a need to reset preferences using Photoshop since 3.5 and Illustrator since the first version. (Well, maybe once in those 20+ years). If there is a "consistent" need to trash preferences, then you have a problem that requires some investigation to find out why the problems are recurring.
Ok…since I don’t have an unorthodox system…and since CS2 didn’t give me problems on this same machine – I can only assume that CS3 has *the problem*
Anybody else getting this? Any solutions?
This seems to happen AFTER saving the file successfully once….then after some more work, if you try and save again – the error pops up….hope this helps.
It’s like the file is incapable of overwriting itself.
"the file". What size is this file?
Does anyone know how to use the smart filters? Actually I can’t find the tool to undo the blur on a section of a picture?
OK, that crashes my line of questioning. I’ve been getting that message with flattened files over 500MB when attempting a jpeg save. Smaller files around 300MB save OK.
I’m following this with interest, though.
Scott, start your own thread!
Anybody help us out here? We can’t be the only two with this problem…. 😉
I only struck this "problem" by accidentally trying to save a file of 520MB as jpeg instead of tiff as I usually do. It saved as tiff no problem, but it did make me wonder if jpeg had a limitation (the file was under 30,000px in both dimensions, so that wasn’t the problem).
Having same issues and have tried everything. PS CS3 works fine however when i go to the Save As it freezes. Windows says it is working fine however I won’t do anything. This only happens when i click Save As. I Need Help!!!
Yep…same here….anyone else?
I am using CS2, I no longer have an option fro jpeg when I do a "save as", thus my actions keep cutting out when I try run a batch save as jpeg? It was working without a problem before. I would let it run overnight and have a folder for jpeg and tiff. Now it keeps cutting out out, error 1295.
Please help.

If the file is in 16 bit mode, Jpeg is not available.
Rob
You know, I think that may be my issue. I have started working in 16bit mode. i will try that tonight. I iwll add the action to convert to 8bit mode before saving as jpeg.
I do not know this works but, when I image process and save as jpeg but do not do add any action to this process it saves as jpeg. Is it converting it then saving it but can not do this with an action do to the processor sequencing??
Thanks for the eye opener, feeling kinda stupid for not trying that first.
I have this too, if anyone finds a way to get around it that would be great. I tried creating new user profiles (PC) it worked for a while although the issue seemed to return after a day.
is the dialog off screen somewhere? can you hit esc and get program control back? do you have a monitor util that may be hiding or forcing the dialog somewhere? (like ati hydravision or nvidia’s nview?)
