recently became a photoshop user, and as a sufferer of a "lazy eye" i was wondering if by using photoshop (CS2) on a windows xp computer, i could correct the appearance of my eyes so that they both face together rather than one facing to one side.

sorry i know its laughable but would mean a lot if any help was offered!

being a photoshop beginner i’d need a lot of instructing

You need to learn how to make a selection using the Lasso Tool. (Look it up in Photoshop Help).

Make a selection round the good eye (with a 5 pixel feather set in the Options bar at the top).

Press Ctrl + J (this puts the selection on a new layer).

Press Ctrl + T (this puts the selection in a transform box).

Right-click inside the box and choose "Flip Horizontal".

Now drag the box over the lazy eye (you may have to rotate it a bit with the mouse) and press Enter.

In the absence of an actual picture that’s the best I can do. You need to experiment a bit yourself and practice until you get the hang of it. Obviously things like lighting and shadow may have to be taken into account.

Pete,

Here’s what I could do. A quick & dirty method as we say, meaning a fast and not so optimal edit.

First I promoted the Background layer to a real layer (in Layer Palette double click on it). I needed to do this so I would be able to put a layer underneath.

Then I made a selection of your right eye with the Polygonal Lasso, set at 2 px feathering.

Next I hit Del to remove your right eye (sorry about that)

Then I made a rough selection of your left eye (The one I think looks best) and made a copy of that on a new layer (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V)

I mirrored this copy, and then I mirrored the iris back so the catchlight would be right.

Some white was missing, so I copied some over from the left eye.

The corners of the repaired eye were now too white, so I clone-stamped in some pink. As a source I used a rather pink section of the skin.

Then I couldn’t resist to correct the red eye effect coused by the flash. Selected the red irises, desaturated them, and using steep Curves clipped them to black and the catchlights to white.

Thats it!

I varied it only insofar as I just flipped the lazy eye over itself.
