Hi,

I have just receieved a photo which our photographer has adjusted in photoshop. After doing this, he has saved the file both as tif (100MB!!!) and as jpeg, with 300 pixels and 150 pixels. The pictures are also quite big, at least as an A4.
The problem for me is that when I open the file in Photoshop 7.0 the front of the product we are selling is red, but red in a striped strange way. The front is slightly rounded and I think our photographer has added some shades to make it round also on picture. At his computer it is all very nice, but mine is really bad. As I said the red colour is striped with darker red at the boundarys and lighter red in the middle of the product. What is wrong?? The computer I have is rather big, so its hard for me to see why it can’t transform the colours. The photographer said that maybe my computer cannot handle so many red colours and simplifies the drawing, but it seems rather strange to me.
I don’t change anything in the setup, I just open his file without changing any colour setup etc. Any idea??
Its driving me crazy.

/Annika

PS. We have also tested to open the files on other computers but all show the same. Printed version is also striped as well as pdf.

Annika,

Maybe it’s the colour setting of your display. Check this: Right click on the desktop, choose Properties, then settings.

Here check that it is set to display millions of colours (24 or 32 bit).

The effect you describe makes me think it’s set to 256 colours.

BTW, 100 MB for a TIFF destined for press is not extreme if it’s A4 at 300 ppi.
