So just starting PS CS3 and then opening the preference screen, moving it around takes all %50 cpu usage on 1 core.. I have a dual core x2, but if were running a single core i’d be extremely worried….

This slow down is happening throughout the program with moving windows around, and even layers etc.. what on earth is wrong with adobe new software? this high cpu usage on doing simple things is annoying as hell and never used to be a problem.. Is it the nvidia drivers or something going on with photoshop??

x2 3800
8800gts, 162.18 drivers
2gb
dual monitor- tried disabling 2nd monitor.. no difference.

Hi Milo

Once you’ve opened CS3 open your task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del on windows) and have a look to see where the CPU power is being drained. I suspect the offending item will be AdobeUpdater.exe in which case have a look at the link below for a fix.

No its definitely only photoshop.exe thats using up 100% CPU core for a simple task like moving a window about.. I mean move any window about in Windows and the CPU usage is usually pretty small unless there are a bunch of other windows underneath.. But doing the same thing in Photoshop causes maximum cpu core usage.. just seems badly programmed

has anyone else noticed this.. and what pc setup do you have
