CS3 extended does not recognize .psd file created in Photoshop9 (MAC)

We created a document in Photoshop9 on our MAC and tried to open it in CS3 extended on our Windows based PC and we get the error message the "request could not be completed because it is not a valid Photoshop document". Help !

Are you sure it’s a PSD file?

Positive …it was saved in Photoshop9 and has a .psd extension…and we have no problem reopening it in Photoshop 9

Open it in 9 save as a Tif

open that on the windows box.
