Hi and thanks to anyone that can help. I have Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and I am trying to create text all around a circular or oval shaped label. I am using a template thatI downloaded when I purchased the labels.

2 Questions:
How do I create Circular Text?
and
Can label templates be used in Adobe so I don’t have to copy and paste the same information on EACH and EVERY label???

Please help and I thank you in advance.

Ceci

That feature did not exist in Photoshop 7. You’ll need to place the letters individually and rotate them to fit.

1. You pretty much can’t. The text on the path functions were added to latter versions, CS or CS2 … I can’t remember which. Your only chance is to play with the polar coordiates filter, but it is not optimal.

2. As for templates, if you have information and guides that are on many files, just build all that repeating information and save it. Then open that file, remembering to save as a new name before you start adding the unique bits.

Ceci,

Unless you’re able (system specs) and willing (money-wise) to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, your least expensive route to go is probably some dedicated CD/DVD label-making software. That is assuming you want to create labels on a frequency enough to warrant such a purchase and don’t want to deal with the limitations of PS7. PS CS is where text on a path was introduced and, apart from that, the only other option I know of that makes text on a path easy with PS7 is to use the Extensis PhotoGraphics plug-in, which is no longer marketed. It was $150 at the time of introduction and that would be much better applied to a PS upgrade.

Oh yeah…I’d forgotten about Otthpaths, although $99 is a nice step toward PS CS3 if one’s PC is up to meeting the CS3 specs.

There is a way, though the text will have to be rasterized: < http://home.zonnet.nl/epragt/tutorials/photoshop/text/circul artext/index.jsp.htm>
