Using Photoshop CS2, I noticed that when changing the resolution of the source file, say from 120 to 300 (no resampling), the resolution is not carried into the png file – the psd file is indeed 300 but png resets to 120 (the original capture resolution). Same process in PaintShop Pro results shows correct behavior (png is 300 dpi). Has anyone else seen this?

how are you saving the png, if you’re using save for web that strips out most (all?) meta info, including resolution. file> save as, should retain the resolution.

Thanks Dave!!!! That’s exactly what I needed. I wasn’t considering what ‘save to web’ really means.
