What exactly do you mean "with all the layers separated" ? Those formats don’t have any layers.

No e-mail.

Perhaps he’s referring to animated GIFs, which can be opened in Adobe ImageReady?

It’s not entirely clear to me what you’re asking If you mean that you have a JPEG that was originally made using layers, and you want those original layers back:

No, absolutely not. It is just as impossible as taking a cake and getting the flour and eggs back the way they were. Sorry…

Yes…what they said. JPGs have no layers for Photoshop to recreate..

hi,

see if i am working on a files containg text and an image and then i will save it to jpg format fine.

now if i lost that psd and then i need to change the text written on the image i will have to recreate the image since i have lost the psd.

so i need a software which convert that jpg to psd format so that the text can be edited……………..

Yes. The layer structure was lost when you saved to JPEG. That means that the pixels under the text have been lost. There’s no way to get them back, since the information just isn’t in the JPEG file.

so i need a software which convert that jpg to psd format so that the text can be edited……………..

That’s impossible. You are stuck with recreating the image from the original source, or else manually painting over the text so that you can put new text on top of it.

See? The problem is that there is only one layer in the JPEG file. It’s defined that way, If you flattened the image and saved it as PSD, the problem would be exactly the same.

Impossible. *It.* *Cannot.* *Be.* *Done.*

No JPEG contains text. Ever. Period. A JPEG contains nothing but pixels. Nothing can get the original text layer back. The original text, and everything that was beneath it, is *gone.*

You would actually be MORE likely to turn a cake back into eggs and flour than to turn a flattened JPEG back into the original layered document. When you flatten a layered image, the information about the layers is permanently removed and can never be put back.

Sorry…

Since Photoshop and no any other program gives you the *IF* option so you will have to pray to lose the JPG instead of PSD.

Or you can copy the PSD to CD-R then you will have some insurance. *IF* you worry you may scratch the CD-R then copy to TWO or more CD-R, and *if* 2 or more CD-R still won’t give you worry-free then you can keep the CD-R in Safe-Fireproof-Box for extra insurance.

You can use an OCR program to read the text in the image. Microsoft claims that the Smart Erase tool in Digital Image Pro 9 will magically remove objects and fill in the background appropriately. Not having used it myself, I can’t say how well it works, but Consumer Reports liked it.

Well, I’d rather do it myself than let Bill Gates do it.

With all due respect to Consumer Reports, they are the last people I’d listen to for graphics advice.

That’s what Bill Gates is for. And if you can do it yourself then you should be the one blowing cigar smoke.

I’d imagine that one could do about as well with the Clone Tool and a bit of care. However, I have been impressed with some of the recent generation of image generation (no pun intended) software and how well it interpolates surrounding texture and color.
