I’m trying to make a main webpage for my website, so im using Imageready. I have created a 800×600 page with an header (image). I used layers fot the headerimage, a menu bar. I sliced the total page up.

1. header
2. menubar
3. body
4. footer

If i generate this with ‘save optimized as’ .html and images. Then the blank spaces that i also sliced will become an gif file. Now i cant put any text or images in this area if i want to adjust the pages by hand.

So the problem is that he also generates the body (white space) as an gif file and sets this in a table structure.

Does anyone know what i can do? So i want the header (image) and the footer (image), the body must be blank so after the generation of code i get add my own html/javascript code here.

Thanks for any of your hints.
Jack.

Briefly, you can open the HTML doc in Notepad, Wordpad or any HTML editor. Arachnophilia is a good free one for Windows.

In the table data areas for the blank gifs, between and [/TD] delete the image ref tags and insert your text with all HTML tags for font, size, etc. In the Images folder that is generated delete the blank gifs.

This assumes you know some basic HTML.

There may be an easier way do it. I don’t know because I don’t use ImageReady to make webpages.

If you’re hand coding, simply take out the stuff between the <TD> and </TD> tags for the cells you wish to empty, and put your code in. If you’re using a WYSIWYG editor, just delete the images from the cells you wish to empty. then set cell colors to the color of the deleted slice.
You might also consider laying out header, left, and footer tables separately in Imageready to avoid the frustration of cells resizing based on changes in other cells. We went around in circles for awhile before we decided to compartmentalize our tables.

Hope this helps.

Hint: Don’t use an image manipulation program to build a web site.

Why not?
This way i can create a mainpage with all kinds of images and links. Slice it up into tables so it looks always good when the html is generated. This way the images always fits into the page.

Or does anyone have other arguments? Is it possible to slice it up in frames instead of tables?

thx.

Because it’s inflexible, will write bad code, doesn’t allow you to use DHTML, XML, javascript and so forth. Actually, if you have to ask why, I’m sorry, but you don’t comprehend sheer number of [problems caused by not using the right software. Would you use Photoshop to do Word processing? Same thing.
