A handy tip i know of when deleting areas of background using the method described below is to use the SELECT_MODIFY_CONTRACT before inverting the selection. contract by 1 pixel should remove stray background areas, and the loss from the image you want to keep usually isn’t too bad.

Then select the tiger, invert the selection, and delete. That will erase the space around the tiger, allowing the background to show through.
