I think the answer is ‘no’ but thought I’d check anyway.

I have two sequences of images, such as a_001.bmp, a_002.bmp, …, and b_001.bmp, b_002.bmp, … They are in different folders now, but could easily be put into the same folder if it would make the action work. All of the images are 500 x 500 pixels.

From these two sequences I want to generate a 3rd sequence, c_001.bmp, c_002.bmp, …., where each image is 1000 x 500 pixels. c_001.bmp would simply be a_001 placed next to b_001 with no overlap.

It’s easy to do manually with PS (using CS2), but I can’t figure out how to do it as an action in batch mode. Thanks for your help. I’m working on a Windows PC. In the meantime I’ll be looking at Gimp to see if it can do this.

I don’t think so. A Script might be able to though. Ask on the Scripting Forum: <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@@.3bbf2765>

There is a work around or more to the point take advantage of the new features you can use in CS3.

Create a new file the size needed

go to layer-> Video layer-> new video layer from file

Select the first set of images. This will load the numbered sequence as a continuious set. Do the same with the second set.

Position the two layers side by side as you would do any normal layers.

once the final arrangement is good go to file->export-> render video

and make sure you select image sequence.

assuming the files are all the same size and there are no gaps in the numbering it should take about 5 mins. If there are gaps then add dummy file to fill these or the import wont get all the frames.

DONE!!!
