I cannot open some *.psd file, or *.jpg file’s … ?!

When trying to reopen a *.psd file, or *.jpg file, I get an error message: (Could not complete your request because of program error)

I can crete new ones, and save them – but when I close Photoshop CS3 Extended – and try reopen it, I cannot open it!
File sizes range from 5-6mb.

What can I do?

Are you opening the files locally or over a network or from removable media?

No, the files are all on my local C Drive.

Mark,

I remember I had that once. I reinstalled PS CS3 on top of the previous installation (a repair install).

After that the problem was gone. All the updates were retained.

Reinstalling is fairly painless. Also consider resetting the preferences before reinstalling. (reinstalling itself doesn’t do this.
