I recently bought Photoshop 7.0 after using Photoshop Elements 2 for the last 6 months. When I first got PE2 I had color issues and was informed by the PE2 forum that I could resolve the problem by downloading and installing the Ignore EXIF Color Space utility. I did and that took care of the problem.

Now, with Photoshop 7, the problem is back. I went into the PS7 site and downloaded the Ignore EXIF Color Space utility, but this time it didn’t fix the problem.

I still have PE2 on my system and can toggle the utility on and off, but it just won’t work in PS7.

Is there a conflict with having PE2 and PS7 installed on the same PC? Or is there some other setting or preference that needs to be set?

Mark,
There’s no problem with having both Elements and Photoshop on the same PC. I do on mine and on both the ignore EXIF utility is used. Photoshop has more sophisticated color management settings than Elements, and your problem may lie there. Check out <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm> , a dandy tutorial by Ian Lyons. It should give you some good advice on your color settings in Photoshop. Come back if you need more clarification, or just to talk.

Brent,
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ll admit that I don’t understand much of it, but in the Color Setting, by changing the "Settings:" to Photoshop 5 Default Spaces, then modifying Working Spaces – RGB setting to "Monitor RGB", the color problem on the display has been remedied.

Again, thanks for your help. I’ll let you know if this change has any impact on printed image output.
