Hello, All!

I can no longer run Bridge w/o it crashing. I get an error message regarding LIBMYSQLD.dll and an error report (below). I’ve reinstalled but that did not solve the problem. Sorry for the formatting of the error report – tried attaching but can not in this forum.

Thanks,
Colonel Blip.

I have serious trouble with Bridge when the complexity of a directory gets too high. I can’t tell you what "too high" means right now, but I sure know it happens.

How big or complex is the folder you’re looking into with Bridge???

I’m finding that the CS3 suite of programs must be the most unstable Adobe have released.

Their, work a rounds, fixes or what ever you want to call them only create more problems. Even to the extent I have reformatted my hard drive and reloaded all my software.

There are hidden sections buried in and under the hard drive, when altered, modified, moved in accordance with Adobes instructions make for instability and you can’t just do a reinstall.

I tried to load a program off the Web premium suite on a trial basis and it would not let me into it at all and said something like Internet Explorer was the cause of the problem. Even when I removed IE still had the same error come up – the moral I have not tried or even bothered to install any further parts of CS3.

Makes one thing and to explore other software as Adobe have started to outsmart themselves.

So you may never solve your problem without a full format and reinstall.

I only have the problem when I go to "My Computer" which of course has all of my drives in it.

Thanks,

well maybe it isn’t all adobe fault
your story was sounding similar to a problem I found last week and it was caused by IE7 install

I don’t use any suite but just Photoshop CS3 and I find CS3 is less stable comparing to all older versions I have used.

– Bridge, I guess it may conflict with either older Bridge & CS2 I still have on my system, or LightRoom which I bought before Photoshop CS3 released (just try to learn something before too late to play catching up, but don’t like the slow displaying of LR). But once again I have problem opening JPG to Photoshop that I didn’t have this problem before.

It was working fine before upgrading to newer ARC v4.x (or whatever with auto-upgrading).

– I use Feather quite often and now it won’t allow me to set the #’s like older version. I still can use Shift-F6 to set Feather #’s not no longer be able to set the #’s from the Menu

Argggg .. I just found out I can just press down the pen the move Left/Right to change the value.

I was pretty sick for months to have much chance to play with CS3 so I am pretty much behind.

it prevents Roxio 7 from working to make DVD menus, crashes it I didnlt notie as I use that feature rarely the rest of the suite works re install does not fix it

ed roxio won’t address an update you have to buy an update version or uninstall IE7

A new OS for MS users is wreaking havoc with all software in unexpected ways or it is a plot to make us continually buy new stuff whether we want it or need it or not

For future reference for those interested, it appears the crashing was a problem with the cache. I purged it (preferences) and it has been stable since.

Thanks,

Colonel Blip.

Sounds like you know your stuff but remember that IE cannot be removed from Windows, so it’s in there whether you want it or not, and it doesn’t matter if you never use it – it’s in there and it is tied to everything and when you update IE it can cause other things to fail because IE is so rooted in the OS. Long dang run-on sentence but I hope you get my point.

IE7 does as you say come in uninvited in the windoz auto updates BUT IT DOES HAVE THE OPTION TO ROLL BACK TO IE6
in the menu under tools
that is under XP not sure about Vista

so check anyway even if you use FF that IE may still be installed even thought it is not the dafault browser

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have the same directory tree problem. What I’ve discovered is that it is indeed the number of
sub-directories, (4 seems to be the limit for me), but ALSO, the number of photos in the directory! I guess this can also explain it having to do with the cache not being able to keep up.

I beta tested PS CS3 for a month or so before it’s release. I installed Creative Suite and even after using Adobe’s worthless ‘cleaner’ STILL got the error, "Adobe Photoshop CS3 cannot install because of a conflict with: Adobe Photoshop CS3" I installed it on a secondary hard drive in my system, (not in the default location), and ended up blowing away a new Vista install, formatting the machine, going through hoops with Microsoft having to tell them why I wanted to reinstall Vista and eventually being able to install PS CS3. Ridiculous.

I realize that software companies have to get pretty radical to try to stay a step ahead of the pirates and thieves. But when it’s at the expense of dedicated and loyal customers that are expected to remain ‘understanding’ through a debacle like this, understanding about the price being so high with every upgrade, (even though the majority of the development’s been complete for years), because it helps recoup loss due to piracy, it starts to be a LOT of understanding…

Thanks for the 411 on the cache limitations! MUCH appreciated!

🙂
