I have Windows XP 3GHz processor, 2G Ram, 250GB harddrive, 77GB free, working on Photoshop CS3.

I can open files, work on them, then I try to save, whether I save or save as, the save box pops up and goes away instantly, and then I can’t do anything to photoshop at all, and have to go to task manager to close photoshop. The first time it happened I received an error message saying that I had too many files open, but I didn’t have anything else open.

First try resetting the PS Preferences (see the FAQs for details)

I am having the same problem. I am wondering if this is because of the recent update.

when I try to reset using the ctl alt shift shortcut upon startup, it asks me about scratch disks.

Just set them back to how you had them (under the performance Tab) before resetting the prefs.

I called tech support and the solution to this problem is related to version cue. Make sure you have version cue unchecked in your photoshop options wherever it is–i cannot remember. And uncheck version cue in the startup scripts in the Bridge options.

If this doesn’t work-though it did for me- you can remove the version cue folder, uninstall cs3 and reinstall cs3, but before you start photoshop, download the version cue folder from the adobe website they have provided. Obviously, this is a last resort.

Thank you thank you thank you!

It worked. The version cue option was under preferences > file handling.
