It continually amazes me the assumptions made in the computer industry. I’ve started working my way through the Photoshop CS2 guide book and I’ve come across a section about ImageReady. Now, what exactly is ImageReady?

It doesn’t even tell us how to open this programme (it’s OK, I’ve found out now). Out of the blue comes this word and nowhere in the guide, either the printed or electronic, can I find any explanation as to what is it’s funtion. There is no mention of it in the index. I had to Google the word.

I mean …. am I missing something here? What on Earth! A programme is supplied with Photoshop and nowhere is there any explanation as to what the programme does. I find this kind of thing far too often in the computer industry …. too many assumptions made. Does anyone agree with me?

They removed ImageReady in CS3. Probably to avoid perplexed reactions such as yours!

Seriously, the User Guide for CS2 is a disgrace. The TOC is without page numbers – what’s the use of that? No wonder they didn’t bother to include one with CS3 which was rushed out, bugs and all, to meet some management deadline.

You do get an icon to open ImageReady in the start menu however, and there are instructions on how to "jump" to ImageReady from Photoshop on p16.

But the only people that are missing ImageReady in CS3 are those that used it for web work. However, it was a bit cavalier of Adobe to just exterminate it without any notice!

Yes, many in the computer industry avoid the expense of
providing clear explanations and instructions. This may be due to the extra expense involved or due to the inability of programers to master clear English.

At any rate an apparently good answer regarding the function and other details concerning Aobes’ ImageReady can be found at
