Ok, I know how to create a text style.
I know that you can use a text style by selecting the stye you want in the text style manager, then begin typing in a new text layer and it will type with the selected style applied. (for example blue Italic Verdana underlined)

What I am wondering is how do you apply a style to text you already have created? I want to go through and apply a certain style to just a few words or sentences here and there throughout the paragraph but when I highlight the word I want to apply the style to….the style grays out and I can’t apply it. There has to be a way to do this…right?

Right now, as an example of the long way, I am hightling the word(s),clicking bold, then clicking Italic, then clicking underline, then clicking blue.

I have have PS CS3

TIA.

Hello Ken,
Just select a fragment with your Type Tool (see flash movie here < http://simplephotoshop.com/photoshop_interface/typetoolf.htm>) or double-click text layer thumbnail to select all the text. Then you may edit font, color, and other settings.

Thank you but thats not what I am asking.

I am asking if you can apply a "text style" to only hightlighted areas of pre-existing text in much the same way you apply a style in dreamweaver. ( I think you can in illustrator or InDesign too)

Can someone tell me if this is possible in Photoshop CS3?

Photoshop doesn’t have paragraph styles that you can apply. If you have that much text where this is an issue you’ll need to use a pagelayout application.
