I’m just learning Photoshop CS3 and need to alter a single B&W image of black graphic art so that the white background is Pantone 165C orange. What is the normal way to do this?

I have the image open, sized and Adobe RGB profile applied. Firstly I’m not familiar with masking yet and wonder if I should use quick mask?

My printer is not postscript which concerns me as the help mentions that Pantone colours are spot colours applied to CMYK output.

First, what is your goal? Is the file going to be color separated for commercial printing or do you just need a inkjet print that resembles 165 and black?

Craig,

A commercial label printer will produce plastic labels from Illustrator AI files but for the current prototypes I will print the labels on an Epson 1290 photo printer. Thus I’m sending RGB to the inkjet.
