Hello
On of the frustrations I have is with trying to save a file as *.jpg or *.gif and finding for some reason that type is not available.
Why? What variables dictate when a gif option is or is not available. Is there any FAQ or help link on this behaviour?
Thanks
Ralph

Ralph,

I’m not sure of any particular FAQ but the GIF format is only available when saving an indexed mode RGB file. I think that is the limitation in PS6, whereas PS7 makes the GIF format available and converts the color mode as part of the save process. Similarly, an image in Lab Color mode cannot be directly saved to either GIF or JPG. Those are just a couple examples I’m familiar with, and I think this problem generally is one of questioning what the color mode is of the image being saved.

Regards,

Daryl

You might be just as well off using Save For Web.

Strange bug/issue that adobe cannot reproduce. duplicate the image, close the original – close all open images but that one, then it should save.
