If the behaviour changes according to the position of the cursor at 100%, it sure sounds like a bug. There is a contact button on top of the page.

Try using the Pencil tool instead of the Brush Tool

He already is!

I didn’t see him say that john. as phos has said, this has been discussed way back (i remember it back around 6, he’s been using ps longer than me). consensus was (when chris and mark were still posting here) use the pencil tool. not pen. not brush. pencil. square. 1 pixel. make sure all anti-aliasing is off.

I meant he knows all about the pencil tool. He said in the OP:

the Pencil tool is great, it shows exactly the size of the pixel going to be drawn, and also, the precision cursor (the central cross) ensures that you’re going to draw exactly on the pixel you want to draw.

In other words, it was no use saying "try using the pencil tool". (Which a couple of the answers did.)

If you are stroking the path, try this:

Duplicate the path, and Ctrl+T to transform it. In the Option Bar, make sure Relative Positioning is active, and enter "-0.5" in both the X and Y fields, and commit the Transform.

Now, Stroke the duplicate path with the Brush, and the stroke will be properly aligned with the original path.
