It seems the cool Intel D975XBX2 board kakked on me this morning (I was just posting four days ago that I was dissatisfied with it, go figure). So here I am using the backup computer to get online.

I was wondering what other users are using that is giving them satisfaction. I use PSCS2, InDesign CS2, Illustrator CS3, Dreamweaver, Fireworks & Maya. Has to be a board that is on the market.

I’m sticking a Q6600 & 8GB of 800Mhz RAM into the board with five HDs. Needs a PATA controller for the DVDs.

So…… nobody is using a motherboard these days?

No. I took it out last week and I discovered that the computer actually sped up considerably.

I have a computer I built a year ago on an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe motherboard and am quite happy with it. I don’t imagine you have an AMD Socket AM2 processor lying around, if your old motherboard is made by Intel, so I’m afraid I can’t help much. I do highly recommend ASUS MBs, however. Go to their website and check out the latest and greatest. Also, I’ve found reviews on <http://www.tomshardware.com> to be very helpful.

I use Tyan boards myself, but I’m also still stuck in AMD land. My computer still seem plenty fast to me because I have nothing newer/faster to compare it to.

If ignorance is bliss, I must be the happiest guy on the planet.

Hmmm. I did some work with this board, but I didn’t realize Intel was actually marketing this to retail.
