Hi.

When using PS CS3 under Vista in full screen mode with all the palettes hidden from view, is there any way to disable the function that makes the palettes pop up as soon as the mouse hovers over the left of right border of the screen for a few moments?
In Photoshop, there is a kind of special border on the right side and when I drag from there to the left, I alter the size of the entire photoshop window and switches from full screen mode to window mode. I don’t know if that is something that has to do with the Photoshop settings or the Vista settings. But that’s something I want to disable and not just that, but also that as soon as you hold the mouse for a few moments near the left or right border, the palettes (that had been hidden using the tab key) pop up automatically.
So, to sum it up, I would like to work in full screen in a way that no matter where I hold or click the mouse, the palettes should not pop up automatically and Photoshop should remain working in full screen mode filling the entire screen.
For instance, I’ve noticed that when I dissable the "always on top" function and I enable "auto hide" for the Windows task bar, this prevents the task bar from popping up when the mouse hovers over the lower border of the screen.

Kind regards and thanks in advance for any help, Niek

Just open each palette from the popped up state on the right and close it with the little "X" in the top corner. You can also close the toolbox from the Window menu if you wish.

Then save this as a named workspace (also under the Window menu).

Great, thanks. This works exactly like I want now. But there is one little thingy that still bothers me, which is that as I start drawing very closely to the edge of the screen, it will auto-scroll very slightly. Is there any way to disable this auto-scroll feature?
It just scrolls like 1/10th of an inch or so, and it only happens when I start drawing very closely to the edge of the screen (nudging the canvas in the direction opposite to the edge of the screen where I start to draw). So it doesn’t happen when I draw and end the pen stroke near the edge of the canvas. I prefer it when it keeps the canvas fixed in the center, no matter where I start drawing, even if it’s on the very edge of the canvas.

Kind regards, Niek

I can’t reproduce the effect you describe so can’t suggest a remedy.

I’ve uploaded a little clip to youtube that illustrates what I mean:

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdE99S7kQnM>

I’m working here on an 800×600 canvas and 800×600 is also my screen resolution and I’m working in full-screen mode with all the palettes out of the way. When I draw the first line, the canvas is not displayed at 100%, so the canvas is smaller than the screen. As can be seen when I draw the first line, the canvas is not moved or nudged, even when I start at the very edge of the canvas. However, I subsequently switch to a 100% view (via Ctrl-Alt-0) and now the edge of the canvas coincides with the edge of the screen. Now, when I draw a number of lines starting at the edge of the canvas, you can clearly see the canvas is being nudged every time I start drawing at the edge of the screen.
