Hey! I am looking for a good Tutorial for making old looking photos. The ones I find does not have directions on making the paper and feel old. I am looking for something that has the look but also when people pick it up to examine it the texture of the paper (cricks in the paper etc) give them the feeling the photo is old. It is for a local contest on old prints photos. if you have any ideas on if you were going to enter a contest like this what would you do. I am a novice in Photoshop.

Thanks

What you want is Photoshop 3D. Unfortunately, it won’t be available for a few years.

Seriously, Photoshop can only put ink on the paper; it can’t make it feel old. You will need to print on "aged" media for it to feel old. One possibility is to use textured paper, which may help some. However, you may need to treat the paper before or after printing to give it an aged look or feel. This may affect its ability to be printed upon (if before) or the inks used (if after). There are a variety of techniques, including soaking in strong tea, holding over a flame, etc. Google is your friend here. Search for terms like aging paper, old paper effect, parchment look….

Search for albumen paper / albumin paper for instance which is something you actually can make yourself in the kitchen (no kidding).

Just one example by the way but mind not all chemicals required are completely harmless, say wearing goggles, gloves and a different place than the fridge for storing the stuff may be a good idea.

Cheers,
