Hi people,
I’m having a flickering cursor on my CS3 photoshop. This is version 10.0. It disables some functions in PS. I can’t type anything in the top bar fields. I guess I’ll have to start re-using PScs2

Anybody an idea?

If you have the MS Intellipoint mouse software installed, uninstall it.

I am also experiencing the flickering cursor.
(Win XP pro, PSCS3 10.0.1)
The flicker started after a few weeks of no problems.

Michael Sullivan suggests removing MS Intellipoint.
I don’t use that but I do use Logitec mouse software.
Would that cause the problem?
What about Wacom Cintiq 21UX?

OK – I did some further searching in Adobe Support areas and found an interesting post using "Intellipoint" as the keyword.

<http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402012> says to download and install the latest version of the Microsoft IntelliPoint mouse driver software. This is supposed to fix a problem where you can’t move an image window.

Perhaps installing the latest IntelliPoint mouse driver will also fix the flicker? Does anyone have other ideas or knowledge related to the flickering cursor issue?

David, there was a problem with the Logitech mouse software several versions back. Make sure you have the latest. There is no reason to install MS Intellipoint for a Logitech mouse.

The KB article is from last summer. The people who have tried the latest Intellipoint software on this forum recently say it’s still buggy and MS mouse users are better off using the built-in drivers. (Or they can try to find an older version that’s not buggy.)

If the latest Intellipoint driver doesn’t fix the issue for you, David, make sure your video card driver is up to date.

thanks for replying.
This doesn’t seem an Logitec/Intellipoint problem.
I’ve seen this on other PCs also.
My hardware now is a standard DELL PC with DELL mouse and ATI radion HD2400XT. The cursor flickers between the arrow and a tool, so it’s impossible to make even a selection.(you can if you’re lucky to click when the arrow is active, but it’s a matter of flickering)
It’s not a visual thing, the software realy switches between the tools.

I don’t know you, but I love you. Creating a "third party" folder in CS3, dumping all 3rd party plugins in there and redirecting has solved the flickering cursor problem. Thank you Thank you.

wonder if any of you guys is brave enough to suss out which plugin is causing hte problem so we could pass it on next time someone has a problem? put em back one at a time and let us know when the cursor starts to flicker again?

The one that did it for me was Andromeda screens. Others seemed fine. But I put everything back into the 3rd party folder when done, I sleep better.
