I have a situation on a friends computer that is strange. She has been using Photoshop CS2 for quite a while and tonight it suddenly stoped saving JPG’s correctly. She will take the raw picture and do a Save As to create an unedited copy of the pic. Now it doesn’t give the JPG extension to the file. Nothing else has changed on the PC that we can tell. I have worked around the problem by telling windows to show all extensions and showing her how to keep the .jpg on the file name. This should not be necessary though.

I imagine if it were 16 bit, she wouldn’t be able to save as a jpeg at all.

The way DL is talking about file extensions I wouldn’t take for granted that they’re just changing them.

The photo is 8 bit, system just stopped putting the .JPG at the end of the file extension. If you manually put that on the file you are fine.

I changed the view properties of XP to show all file extensions and it worked fine. Somehow something changed to her system that has knocked out the automatic generation of file exensions. I am wondering if this is the same as the thread for PNG.

Just recently mine Photoshop CS2 started having a similar problem. If I click "save as" in the file menu, nothing happens. No Dialog box, nothing. The computer freezes for about 10 seconds and then keeps running like I never clicked anything.
