Is it possible to convert a Path to a Shape exactly where it is?

I can make it a custom shape, but then I have to redraw it.

F1 for the Adobe Photoshop Help files.
Press the Search key and enter "path to shape" Check the list of entries (Ranked from top down in importance). Try the one with the word "shape" near the top. Follow the directions you will find there.

Ol’ Whozit:

I’ve looked but don’t see anything that tells me how to do what i want.

Am i missing it?

Yes you are missing it.
Did you find the article with the word "shape" in it, as in "Creating Shape Layers" in the Help Search? If not, try the article name as I’ve just given it to you.
A "path" is what you create with the pen tool. If you are talking a "selection" created with a Lasso or Marquee tool, try a search for that, and RTFM to learn what you are asking for, and then check that FINE MANUAL and the F1 keys to see if the answer you seek is at hand.

With your path highlighted, create a new color fill adjustment layer. It will automatically assign your path as a vector mask to the newly created color fill.

Agreen, you could also draw a marquee around your path and define it as a brush. Then when you want the same shape just choose that brush and click. Make sure you make the new shape on a transparent layer before you define it as a brush. Unless you change the size of the brush, it should stay the same. All of this only if I understand what you are after.
