I have searched the forums and gotten a few hints but am still confused. I want to install PS CS3 on a laptop ( Windows XP) and and an iMac ( OS X Leopard). I currently have a registered copy of CS3 and Bridge on a PC desktop ( Windows XP) which I will continue to use concurrently with the iMac ( Fusion software). I would prefer to have CS3 on the iMac rather than having to switch back to Windows every time I want to use it.

Thanks

Mark

Unfortunately, Adobe doesn’t (yet) offer a cross-platform license for PS. If you have the Windows version, the only way to use it on a Mac as your second machine is to run it in Windows via Boot Camp, Parallels, or whatever. That means you need to buy a full version of Windows for the Mac laptop. You can cross-grade your Windows version to Mac, but that will require you to give up your Windows license and destroy the media, so you won’t be able to continue legally using it in Windows.

I’m having a bit of a problem – and it’s with Vista, go figure. Here’s the scenario:

I have a licensed CS2 suite running on Vista 32 Business; running in a RAID 1 array (2 drives). I have kept this OS intact.

Deciding that I’d take a dive into the realm of 64bit architecture, I installed Vista 64 Premium on a new single Barracuda drive. Computer is a Precision 690 workstation; all drivers are installed; all hardware supported. System is setup in a dual boot for either the 32 bit or 64 bit vista.

All that said, I wanted to take CS3 for a spin and buy a month’s grace before I buy the suite (enough hardware/software this past month), so I downloaded the trials of PS CS3 and Illust. CS3. Installed the trials on the 64 bit Vista no problem.

However, upon trying to startup the programs and selecting "try for 30 days", (both PS or IL), I am confronted with an error message:
"A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS3." (same w/ Illustrator).

This is the first time installing CS3 trials on either machine. Trials are only a few hours old, so I know that they haven’t expired. Reinstalls and restarts have been unsuccessful.

Could this be due to a functional CS2 on an alternate drive? Or is this a 64bit Vista nightmare? * shrugs*

Anyone seen this before? Should I try to transfer my CS2 and see if it will work?

Many thanks and regards….

Did you turn off UAC before starting? It has to be off for activation to work (and, presumably the equivalent of activation for the trial).

I activated the Master Collection with UAC on. No problems.

Thank you both for the reply.

I tried that this morning and no-go on that as well. Same error message.

I imagine next step would be deactivating / uninstalling CS2 on the 32bit image and installing / activating a CS3 trial (or CS2 licensed) on the 64 bit image. Perhaps a transfer will work then….
