I bought a new computer that came with Vista Home Premium and tried to download my personal (real) version of Photoshop 7.0.1 and it will not download. It will, however, still download on my old computer that has Windows XP home. Any ideas out there??

The only version of Photoshop which officially supports Vista is CS3.

Can you clarify exactly what you mean by "tried to download my personal (real) version of Photoshop 7.0.1 and it will not download."

I’m guessing that you mean it won’t install?

Yes..I am not able to install Photoshop 7.0 into Vista. It did, however, imediately install Adobe Illustrator 10. I also tried to install Premiere 6.5 and this would not work either.(?) Any thoughts?

Cindi:

You’re probably going to need to upgrade PS7 to PSCS3, or you’re going to need to purchase a copy of Windows XP and install it by reformatting your hard drive. I’d recommend upgrading PS7.

I’d recommend upgrading PS7.

especilly since that’s the last version eligible for an upgrade. when cs4 comes out version 7 will NOT get you upgrade pricing. you’ll have to buy all over again if you want the new version.

I just bought a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium and my 7.01 loaded on just fine. I removed it from the old computer. 7.0 was an up grade, I put my original 5.5 on the computer and then the upgrade loaded just fine. I then took 5.5 off the computer and downloaded 7.01 and it installed perfectly. I am using winoows 7.01 on Vista Home Premium and it looks and works much better than it did on the old XP Pro. I do have 3 gig of memory. AMD 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics
And yes it is an HP Pavilion $99.00 at Sam’s Club.

Not that good. I made a big typo, the price was $999.99. Sorry about that. I was worried because it came with Vista Home Premium and I had read so many messages here complaining that Photoshop 7.01 would not run on Vista. It is really working better on Vista than it did on my old computer built three years ago with 1 gig RAM. I know the HP does not have a good rep but for the price I had to try it out, so far it is working great and I see no problems with Vista, which only runs for the most part my imaging programs. XP Pro which was going flaky and it was not under warrant according to Microsoft support because it was an OEM version of XP Pro. Photoshop would no longer work on it. I could do no retouching for as soon as I did one or two steps I would get a blue screen and a memory dump.
It was so noisy it was hard to stay in the same room with it. The new one is very silent running. Ed

format the old machine and reinstall xp pro on it. you’ll have a good backup/knockaround system that will behave like it was brand new!
