Photoshop forum may not be the right place to be asking for help with this but I thought I would start here.

I would like for Photoshop to be the graphic software to automatically open any of my pictures, etc. but it is not in the programs list.

If I right-click on a jpg for instance and go to Open With, the drop down list of softwares appears. For some reason, Photoshop CS is not in the list (only Image Ready is offered).

I have a screen shot of what I am talking about if anyone has the time or just would like to help me with this problem! I don’t think I can attach it in this forum.

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers to help me with this. It is getting really bothersome!

In Windows Explorer go to Tools > Folder Options… > File Types and set things up the way you want them.

Thanks for sending me the help but I think I am still in a jam.

If you right click on a picture (for example) and go down to the Open With option. It will give you a list of suggested software to open your picture. If you don’t see it listed (as I don’t have Photoshop CS in this suggested list), you can go down to the bottom and choose, Choose Program… When you go into that you have a big list of software to choose from and at the top it says Recommended Programs and has about 10 listed and then it has Other Programs.
My question is how do I get Photoshop to show up in this Open With box?

I did do that. Not the answer to help solve my problem but thanks anyway…much appreciated. BTW…
(sorry about the email communication). I am new to this posting and just hit your name and it went to my email automatically. I won’t do that again).

No problem. I still think with perseverance you should be able to get the behaviour you want by restoring the default in that File Types dialog and going from there. It’s certainly not very intuitive!
