CS3 versus CS3 extended

I was looking at educational discounts for adobe software and see they only offer the CS3 extended, not "plain" CS3. I’m mainly needing this for photo editing.

Is the program and interface substaintailly different or more complicated in the extended edition if–for right now–I only need the editing features of CS3?

The interface is exactly the same. There’s just some added capabilities.
