How many PS CS versions – for new computer?

I will be removing Photoshop CS3 from my old desktop computer, and re-installing it on my new workstation computer. My current "other" use of PS is my laptop…so the ‘second computer’ option is no longer there.
My questions are:
The current CS3 is an upgrade from CS2, which is an upgrade from CS – do I need to install all three, sequentially, on the new computer? (I bought upgrade disks of all three programs over the years)
The new computer has a 64-bit OS (XP, NOT Vista) – is the install process any different from a 32-bit OS…is there anything that I should, or shouldn’t, do differently?
Anything I’m not asking, that I should be?

Thanks,
Karl Gerber

It should be possible with just the installation disk of the previous version. No install necessary.

You will need a previous full version install disk not upgrade disks of CS or CS2.

Josh, You may be correct if you have a full version of CS or CS2 installed but if you have a 6. or 7.1 installation that was updated to CS or CS2 there can be issues. I had to call Adobe and do a regedit in order for it to allow the update.
I reread the OP and see that Karl is updating from CS which we assume to be the full version. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

That is incorrect. Many people have been upgrading since version 2.5.

Any of the recent upgrade CDs from version 7.0 on will do just fine for verification to install CS3.

You may have had installation issues but it was not because you were trying to upgrade an install that was itself an upgrade.

The fact that your registry was corrupt was enough of an issue that I personally would have been tempted to do a clean install of Windows.

Bob"

Ok as I remember I was going from 6.0 to CS when I had the issue (7.1 version is on another machine). I upgraded to CS and now CS3 Extended without any problems on the same Windows XP Pro install.
Thanks for the info.

To Clarify:

My original "full" install was CS…following versions were all upgrades via disk. Hope that helps!
